A trip to the 12th century Lanercost Priory is a must, which is situated within the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall. Wander round the priory and parts of Hadrian’s Wall, then enjoy a refreshing afternoon tea.

This is also the perfect location for exploring the Scottish Borders, and not only is the Lake District National Park a lovely drive from here, but also Northumberland National Park is within easy reach too. Best of all, you can return to Low Floweryhirst Cottage in the evening and take a gentle half mile stroll to the local pub and enjoy a lovely meal and well deserved drink.
