Cayton Cottage is a delightful little cottage situated in the centre of the village of Cayton, just 4 miles from Scarborough and 4½ miles from Filey. This end-terrace cottage has an open plan living space, great for socialising in, with a bespoke island dining area surrounded by remote controlled mood lighting. It has its own enclosed gravelled garden area, making it perfect for children and dogs, and a new seating area has been added in 2021; there is a wonderful covered, decking area that leads out from the living room, a great place to eat meals in the sunshine. The cottage also benefits from a car parking space.
Cayton has a very strong village community and has all the amenities you could need. There are a couple of shops, a post office and an award-winning restaurant/pub just opposite the cottage. Cayton Bay is the nearest beach just 1½ miles away and is a very popular bay with surfers, plus for those of you with dogs as it is an all year round dog-friendly beach.
The seaside resorts of Filey and Scarborough are just a 10-minute drive. Filey is a very traditional resort and has won many awards for having one of the best beaches in the UK. Stretching for over 5 miles along the coast, this wide sandy beach is nice and flat. Scarborough is the larger of the two resorts and has something for all age groups, from an open-air theatre to a waterpark with slides and wave pools.
The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just a short car drive, and the amazing display of migrating seabirds perched on the chalk cliffs is well worth a visit. You will see puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes, as well as the many bird watchers that travel from overseas to see this magnificent display. Cayton Cottage is perfectly situated to visit the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Wolds and the east coast. Beach 1½ miles. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
