Warmed by the Gulf Stream, the area has many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (NT) at Castle Douglas and the world renowned Logan Botanic Gardens further afield. The Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in the UK, is nearby, and being central to five of the 7Stanes, this is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers.
