Oban is known as the ’seafood capital of the UK’ and gateway to the isles, as from the bustling harbour you can catch a ferry to the Inner Hebrides, including Mull and Iona. The area is steeped in history with the famous village of Glencoe just 5 miles away and there are many historical sites, ruined castles and museums to visit. A passenger ferry from Port Appin will take you to the magical island of Lismore where time has stood still, or cross on the Corran Ferry and explore the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Sustrans cycle track is right on your doorstep and offers great cycling for all the family, with lovely loch views and an abundance of wildlife. Inverness, the Isle of Skye and the Cairngorms also make for great days out, or just sit and relax and watch the lovely sunsets over the loch.
