Summary: Communication before check-in was lovely. Sadly, once we arrived, the warmth seemed to have been switched off along with the lights. The staff were rather disinterested and, at times, pretty ignorant. The hotel itself appears to have a massive obsession with signage. “NO SMOKING ZONE!” “TURN OFF LIGHTS!” “RUN SHOWER FOR 2 MINUTES!” “TURN OFF TAPS!” “HOT WATER” “KEEP CLEAR!” “NO PARKING” DONT BIN THIS, BIN THAT and so on… it’s mandatory signage too. Like walking around an NHS hospital. Honestly, there are enough instructions to require a small sat-nav. Oddly, there was no sign explaining what to do with towels left in the bath… because housekeeping will happily empty your bin daily, but apparently towels are beyond their remit unless you specifically ask at reception in advance. I paid for an upgraded room and additional amenities for my family, only to find their room was actually worse than the one pictured. And then there was my room - 120. My confirmation said twin room. What I got was, quite literally (even according to the fore floor plan) smaller than the housekeeping cupboard. The tiny frosted bathroom window opened directly onto the kitchen extraction fans, which hummed away all night. If you’re offered room 120, just say no!! 😂 Breakfast wasn’t much better. Carton-egg vibes (and stench), hard potato scones, cheap sausages and Nescafé machines. Not exactly the breakfast of champions. There’s more I could say, but you probably get the picture. I wouldn’t return.
