In the little village of East Lambrook, about a mile from South Petherton village, is this detached cottage. Converted from stables, it is a stylish base for a couple. From the drive, where a horse occasionally clip-clops by, head up a couple of steps through arched doors into your smart kitchen with its flagstone floor and table for enjoying breakfast over the papers. For suppers or quiet time, you have a dining room too, also with the charming flagstone floor, where you can enjoy the ready meals available if you don't feel like cooking or eating at the village pub. The sitting room is cosy, with its oak floor and lovely Knole sofa to relax on. Take the stairs up to your double bedroom, a romantic room with big bed and atmospheric period fabrics, accompanied by a bathroom with characterful roll-top bath or option of a shower. Outside, you have a pretty sitting out area in the garden of the owners' old thatched farmhouse, as well as use of an orchard where you can enjoy sunny alfresco meals at the picnic table. Walk up Ham Hill for superb views from the Iron Age fort. The closest coast is in Dorset, at Bridport or Lyme Regis. With easy access to the A303 or M5, Pittards Farm Cottage is a smashing location for exploring the area.
