Post Office cottage is a very special property. Built in 1783, it boasts many old features, from the thick stone walls to the thatched roof and a working post box built into the wall right by the front door.
There are two large living rooms in addition to a kitchen with dining area meaning there's plenty of space for your group to relax in. The aga in the kitchen will keep you toasty in the winter. The kitchen looks out onto the large cottage country garden including two blossom trees, a pond, and an apple tree which you can pick your own apples in the summer. Kitchen doors lead out onto the large patio with a very comfortable garden dining set.
There is a large King size bedroom on the ground floor, complete with ensuite shower room, benefitting anybody with mobility issues. Doors from this room lead out on to the patio. Downstairs there is also a toilet.
Upstairs there is a family bathroom (no stand up shower), two further King size bedrooms and a bedroom perfect for kids. This room has bunk beds, which are adult size so suitable for sleeping adults too. It also has a cot and changing table, which comes in handy for younger children.
The cottage is situated in the heart of the village of Osmington, which is quiet and wonderful. Often the only sounds that can be heard are the clip clop of horses. There a several stunning walks accessed straight from the front door of the property. Choose the left hand turn for the coast or right for country hills, whichever you choose, you will be greeted with stunning and memorable views. The famous White Horse of Osmington sits above the village and forms one of the most notable walks of the area.
There are two exceptional pubs in walking distance, one a former smuggling haunt by the sea and the other overlooking the famous White horse from their beer garden and the front has the backdrop of a beautiful stream. It has a fantastic outdoor play area for kids and an outdoor pizza oven in the summer.
The village has a dairy with some of the best ice cream in the area at their tea room and you can also pick up provisions from the farm shop. There is also a village shop where you can pick up most things you'd need.
You would have a wonderful trip on foot, without the need to go further in transport, but if you venture further afield you will have the wonders of the Jurassic coast at your fingertips and countless other joyous day trips, adventures and things to discover.
The Jurassic coast boasts fossil hunting and rockpooling, in addition to the stunning natural wonders that are Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Weymouth is a 10 minute drive away, the harbour is stunning with many nice cafes and restaurants. It's beach is award winning with fine golden sand and clear waters.
