Summary: We arrived earlier than the check in time as had mailed the hotel a few days before to see if we could check in earlier but received a standard reply which did not answer our query. Reception unattended and had to wait about 15 mins for someone despite ringing bell and using the phone as instructed. Finally apppeared after the guest in front of us went to find someone and were told they would be out soon as they were making coffees. Were advised we could check in early but at an additional cost of £10 per hour which we declined as we were happy to leave our belongings in the car. When we did return to later in the evening again found reception to be unmanned and had to wait around 10 mins for someone to appear. Given a room on the second floor - the lift was not working, not an issue for us but could be for someone with mobility issues. The corridors were very hot. We had read reviews previously regarding the heat in the rooms and decided to bring our own fan, we are glad we did as the room was very warm. Room was lovely, clean and decorated to a good standard Decided to pop to the bar for a nightcap had one drink - bar had run out of Prosecco. Was instructed the bar was closing around 10.45, early for a hotel! Did had a good nights sleep. Shower very odd and ran hot and cold intermittently no matter what setting you had it on. Also no complimentary water in room All in all lovely hotel but would benefit from a more personal approach and a few tweaks
