The tiny Cotswold village of Brockhampton lies tucked amongst rolling hills and valleys and invites you to enjoy a blissfully rural escape away from the madding crowds. Narrow lanes weave through the countryside, leading you to a peaceful collection of Cotswold stone houses and dwellings, and, in a small terrace across from the pub, Truffles Cottage.
Dating back to the 1800s, Truffles cottage is packed with charm and character and offers a warm and welcoming place to stay and explore the magical Cotswolds. Original features include a large fireplace with a wood-burning stove and deep-set stone mullion windows. On the ground floor, there's an entrance/dining hall, cosy living room and a well-equipped kitchen to the rear. Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The front garden, which is shared but divided by a parterre from its sister cottage, is a peaceful spot to linger with a coffee, while listening to the birds in the trees. There's a table and four chairs and a charcoal barbecue. There's a small courtyard to the rear, where bicycles could be stored. Adjacent to the front gate is a parking space for one car.
*Dogs: 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.
Ground Floor
Entrance Hall/Dining Hall:
The front door leads into the entrance hall, which also doubles as a dining area. The stone floor runs throughout leading to the kitchen and utility at the rear. To one side is a dark wood dining table for four with a feature ceiling pendant overhead.
Living Room:
Overlooking the front of the cottage, the traditionally styled, warm, and welcoming living room features a huge fireplace with a wood-burning stove, flanked by two comfortable sofas which sit on either side of the coffee table. Victorian-style artwork hangs on the walls and there's a wall-mounted TV in one corner. On the bookshelf beneath the TV, there's a selection of board games to enjoy, and throughout the house, guests will find plenty of reading material including novels, cookery books and interior design and gardening reference books.
Utility Room:
This handy space houses the fridge freezer and washing machine. There's also a long breakfast bar with two stools, which would also make a useful workstation if needed.
Cloakroom:
At the rear of the utility room guest will find a ground floor cloakroom with a W.C.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is well-equipped and features cream, country-style cupboards, an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a dishwasher. There is a window to the side, a roof light, and a backdoor to the small courtyard at the rear of the cottage.
First Floor
The stairs to the first floor are quite steep and winding and don't be alarmed if they creak occasionally.
Bedroom One:
Overlooking the front garden, through the original stone window, this king-size room is a lovely and spacious bedroom, filled with light. There's plenty of storage with two double, built-in wardrobes, two tables stand on either side of the bed along with wall-mounted reading lights and there's an occasional table positioned beneath a wall mirror, perfect for use as a dressing table.
Bedroom Two:
This charming bedroom has a metal-framed double bed and is made up with soft white linens. The pretty bedspread reflects the botanical prints on the wall and there are two rattan bedside tables with reading lamps on either side of the bed. Wall hooks with coat hangers provide storage.
Bathroom / Shower Room:
The bathroom is generously sized with a p-shaped bath and a shower over, W.C and hand basin with built-in storage. There's a large window to the side letting in plenty of natural light, and the heated towel rail keeps things warm and toasty.
Outside
To the front of Truffles is a front garden, this is shared with Tiesel Cottage next door but divided by a parterre. There is a charcoal barbecue and table with four chairs making it a lovely place to enjoy an evening drink as the sun sets. There is a little courtyard at the rear of the cottage, that would be suitable for storing bicycles and one parking space by the front gate.
