The market town of Ormskirk is around a 10-minute drive with a good selection of shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants and then the Victorian seaside town of Southport with its long, sandy beach and funfair can be reached in around half an hour. There are several events held annually in Southport, including the famous Air Show, Southport Flower Show, and the British Musical Fireworks Championships. Further afield, the city of Manchester and the Trafford Centre can be reached in under an hour or the Lake District National Park in just over an hour.
