A fine wooden staircase leads to pair of magnificent four-poster bedrooms – a super-king-size and a double – with a shared dressing room. A twin bedroom and two bathrooms complete this floor, with steep stairs rising to a second twin bedroom. Outside, a large, shared garden has your own allocated area with seating and a BBQ, plus boat storage in the parking area.
Shop for tasty smoked fish at an old-established Orford family business or buy the fresh-caught variety sold on the quay. Explore medieval Orford Castle and climb to the roof to enjoy wonderful coastal views. Jump aboard a boat from the quay (dogs are welcome) for a cruise along the peaceful River Ore. The unspoiled landscape is a haven for wildlife, and you may spot resident seals. You can also catch a boat to isolated Orford Ness, once a top-secret military site, but now a National Nature Reserve. Charming Aldeburgh (10.5 miles) has art galleries, a cinema and the famous Snape Maltings cultural centre close by.
